Upper Kenai Peninsula

HUC: 19020302

The Upper Kenai Peninsula Watershed lies between the Kenai mountain range and Cook Inlet.  The landforms include low hills, broad level plains often pock-marked with lakes, and bogs.  Agriculture generally occurs on plains bordering the Kenai River. The total area of the HUC is 2,469,433 acres of which 286,000 acres are covered by a digitized soil survey.

There are approximately 1,000 acres of farm and cropland on the Upper Kenai Peninsula. Most of the acreage is used for hay and pasture production with some vegetables and specialty crops.

This document requires Adobe Acrobat.

Initial Questionnaire

A self-assessment workbook for potential CSP participants is available at http://www.nrcs.usda.gov/programs/csp/pdf_files/CSPfy06self-assessment10_20.pdf.

By going through the workbook, producers will get a good idea about whether they are eligible for CSP. Producers who may not be eligible can find out about programs that can help them achieve a higher level of conservation so that they may apply for CSP in the future.
