Domain:  Soil temperature and moisture data are representative of mixed forest communities on well drained upland locations. Soils are formed in loess and volcanic ash over drift deposits in the Cook Inlet Lowlands Major Land Resource Area (illustrated in red).

US Soil Taxonomy:  medial over loamy, amorphic over mixed superactive, Andic Haplocryods.  Whitsol Series.
Parent Material:
loess and volcanic ash over loamy glacial outwash
General Soil Profile Description:
  Oi-0 to 5 cm; dark brown; slightly decomposed plant material; pH 4.8
  E/Bs-5 to 14 cm; gray and strong brown; silt loam; pH 5.2
  Bs-14 to 33 cm; strong brown; silt loam; pH 5.7
  BC-33 to 68 cm; dark yellowish brown; silt loam; pH 6.2
  2C-62 to 152 cm; dark grayish brown; fine sandy loam and fine sand; pH 5.8
  Notable Features:  Pronounced tongues of  gray E horizon materials extend downward into the reddish color Bs horizon.
